Eyeballs abound in a monochromatic print by Jake Fried.

For Open Eyes (Signal), Fried lifted three moments from one of his animations, stacking them vertically to create a new portrait composition. Wide open eyes are prominent in each scene – a recurring motif in the artist’s practice which calls on science fiction and Surreal photography.

The print retains movement through repetition – layering multiple layers of ink in an intricate process that replicates the tactile quality of Fried's hand-drawn artworks.
