Des/Conectados

In light of recent developments that prevent Brazilians from legally using X, AOTM presents Des/Conectados, a curated collection of leading Brazilian digital artists in support and solidarity. Beyond its rich art historical modernist legacy, Brazil has in recent years become a hotbed of digital creativity, and is home to many artists at the forefront of the on-chain digital art movement, which functions largely via X. Without legal access to this lifeline of community, interaction, and distribution, not only will these artists suffer individually, but the space will also suffer collectively. In highlighting these artists and their artworks, AOTM seeks to empower and celebrate them, and to fortify the community in support.

Des/Conectados reflects the resilience and adaptability of Brazilian digital artists as they navigate a landscape of restrictions and challenges. This exhibition highlights the ingenuity that emerges when artists are forced to reimagine how they engage with their audience, distribute their work, and sustain their practices. It’s not just about what is lost, but what is created in response—a testament to the unyielding spirit of these artists and the powerful ways they continue to shape the digital art movement.
