Final Chapter

The Present by mendezmendez

The Present is my collection of 100 unique, minted artworks born from a daily practice. Over the past two years, I have challenged myself to create a new artwork each day, regardless of timezone, life events, mood, or external obligations. Each of the works created in this way has, in aggregate, formed a larger diary of sorts; the works are documents of my creativity, of my time, and thus, of my existence.

Up until now, 95 of the 100 minted works represent individual interactions with collectors and patrons; they were often chosen explicitly by their eventual recipient, or sometimes chosen by me for their eventual home.

As I looked ahead to the conclusion of The Present, I looked back upon the trove of daily artworks seeking a meaningful and appropriate way to organize its end. Over two years, I have explored new styles, techniques, and motifs, and I have realized patterns among the differences: many of these experiments have evolved into their own series. These patterns have accumulated and formed distinct bodies of work, which I have now highlighted for the conclusion of The Present:

Human Strata | Heavy Air | Anomaly | Displaced | The Core

The remaining artworks of the series will be released in the form of tiered bidders editions: winner’s editions, top 3 bidders editions, and all bidders editions.

Distribution Mechanics

In this final release, each 1/1 in the auction event represents an entire series. The remaining artworks in each series will be released as bidders editions:

– Winners will receive their 1/1 plus an edition of every piece in the release (15 editions total)

– Top 3 bidders of each auction will receive their respective edition plus one edition of each ‘all bidders editions’ (6 editions total)

– All bidders will receive one edition, limited to each auction: i.e., a collector who placed a bid in one auction will receive an edition in the series of that 1/1. If they place a bid in two different auctions, they receive 2 different editions, and so on.

In addition to all the bidders editions, collectors of the 1/1s will receive a 24×30-inch museum-grade giclée print, on thick, textured, 100% cotton matte paper.
